Almost bankrupted by his late father’s gambling debts, Ricardo (Francisco Vera), is forced to scrape a living as a shoe-shine boy, in order to care for his recently widowed sister, Maria (Beatriz Rico), and to keep them in their family home. To make some additional cash, Ricardo and his life-long buddies, Antonio (Borja Elgea), Amador (Octavi Pujades) and Marcelo (Domingo de Luis) work together as a gang of “heavies”, extracting money from debtors for the town’s rich and powerful. But when an enigmatic stranger (Carlos Lasarte), arrives in town with an interesting proposal, Ricardo and his friends take a chance to change their lives forever. To do so they must abandon all their principles. Their code of loyalty, that has bonded the four friends for so long, is tested to the limit.
